Pepsi Santa Commercial Is A Hit

It’s been a long while since Pepsi has come out with a really good commercial, and for the longest while it has seemed like they’ve been in hiding. I’ll admit, I enjoy the flavour of Pepsi a lot more than its counter part, and this is something Simon @ Linkbuildr is not going to be pleased to hear once again coming from my mouth. The Ad Agency TBWA are the masterminds behind this awesome commercial, and that’s no surprise to me. Give it a watch and let me know what you think!

Wake Up You C*$%! Virgin Atlantic’s New Slogan?

If you haven’t heard about the latest kerfuffle brewing with Virgin Atlantic then please don’t be too offended by the title. It seems a message meant for the crew only was accidentally sent to everyone on the flight, and if you’re still wondering what it was, read the title of this post again. I imagine the person who sent this one is going to get the axe, but they might just want to think about a wee ol’ suspension. The amount of links, social mentions and brand buzz will surely make up for a few people pretending to be offended. I personally think it was hilariously, but obviously it’s a place of business and not everyone is going to take it like I did.

Hahn Pioneering Beering Commercial – EPIC!

Beer commercials are usually pretty good, some are bloody fantastic and this one falls with the latter. A very small percentage of commercials hit it off this good, and an even smaller percentage actually make you want to buy the product. Hahn is no stranger to selling sex with beer, and let’s face it, the two go hand in hand! This time around you get something a little different, but the ad agency behind it(Publicis Mojo) nailed it. I hope to see them used again and you should all check out the amazing work that Ad Agency is doing all over the place in Australia.

Robbins Diamonds Billboard Marketing

I just recently saw this billboard advertisement via Reddit the other day and thought it would make a good post. It’s rare that a billboard catches a lot of attention so instead of talk about a viral social media campaign, let’s put this into perspective. Robbins Diamonds targets a local area, so an advertisement like this makes a lot of sense. It’s also good enough to get some attention on the Internet so really this is a win win. By the looks of it, Robbins has tried a few other billboards before but they sucked pretty bad.

Vibram FiveFingers Shoe: A Look At A Viral Product

Comments Off on Vibram FiveFingers Shoe: A Look At A Viral Product
May 22  |  Viral Marketing  |   Ryan Clark

I thought the Vibram FiveFinger shoe would be an interesting product to blog on mainly for its viral aspect. I know in our ecommerce marketing experience that we rarely see a product that does half the work. Vibrams has created a product that is naturally getting interest because it’s crazy unique, and that can lead to a lot of marketing opportunities with half the effort. So hopefully you don’t mind me blabbing about another product and show off just how social media, links and the web is treating Vibrams. I’ll also note, that when I write about a company, they’re in no way a client or even know I’m doing it…so just a little of a disclaimer in case you think I’m selling out!

Not only are those insanely unique looking shoes, they’re apparently also very useful when it come to certain sports like running. Whether or not that’s true, I feel the urge to open my wallet and order a pair just to try it out. As I’ve mentioned before on here, that is something I don’t do very often so all the more reason to look at the magic behind the product. So the effect on other people has apparently taken hold, and I even started to notice a lot more joggers here in Victoria BC taking the plunge. I run 3 days a week on Dallas Road and that’s where I first started to notice the trend. The last straw was when I heard from a friend on Facebook that their sport store was barely able to keep them on the shelf.

Since they’re so popular, and clearly still in the new product phase of glory that customers are able to tell their story, and it convinces me! This is a great feature they’ve showcased which should do a superb job in convincing their would-be customers as well. This also leads me into the next bit of what’s awesome, and that of course is the power of Youtube. They have thousands of videos, mostly of customers using their Fiverfingers for all sorts of activities, including product reviews. These are some of the best free marketing strategies a company can put forth out there, and they don’t even have to do much! For example;

Video Product Review via Wired.com

Like I said, there are thousands of videos already driving branding buzz Vibrams way, but that’s not just all they’re doing socially. A quick look at their Twitter profile also shows nearly 14,000 followers…not too shabby folks! The Vibrams company has also been rocking Facebook hard and their brand page has nearly 135,000 followers! The one common theme I see for both social accounts is that their customer engagement is very active. This is due to a good product and loyal fan base who loves them right back. This right here is not easy to do, and sadly a lot of businesses just don’t get it.

Their Link Profile:

It doesn’t get much better than theirs! I highly recommend checking it out because it’s actually rare to see one so clean these days(lolz). When you have something this interesting, the links will come pouring in from all different sources, and this is the key to survival in Google. I’m seeing magazine links, blog links, social media links, tons of forums where people are talking and linking and running resource pages. This has resulted in thousands of high quality links that is driving them a lot of traffic.

I know the Vibram Fivefingers have been around for a couple of years now, but I mentioned that I’ve noticed them a lot more lately. With social media exploding for them it seems the end result is a huge buzz around the product, so let’s back that up with some online metrics;

So that’s all I can really say about Vibram and their cool as a cucumber product. Just like the rest of these posts I do, I hope they inspire your company to do a better job. If you’re marketing a unique product online, take note of how things are done and put some of that work into your brand. If you need the help, then get in touch with us because this is what we do.

Heineken Asteroids Galaxy Tour Commercial

I was watching my beloved Canucks last time take down Nashville for the second time when I saw this new Heineken commercial air. This is a company that definitely is insanely smart about who and how they do their branding and marketing. I like this commercial enough to remember to blog about it this morning. I like how they’re mixing in The Asteroids into the mix which is great cross branding, and overall the commercial is so well done. Other beer companies out there should take note, especially Old Milwaukee who’s latest ad makes me want to NEVER buy their product.

Badvertising 101: J’s Place Commercial

April 26  |  Viral Marketing  |   Ryan Clark

We all like (really)bad commercials just as much as the good ones, and boy oh boy did I ever find a bad one. The low budget commercials that never were meant to air outside of their local area rarely get the extra exposure. I thought that J could use all the help he can get, and our readers could use a good laugh. While this commercial may be slightly NSFW in nature, it was however aired on TV so I don’t see a problem with it. I can imagine there are a lot of fights at J’s, lots of cheap terrible beer and I’d even put money on a mechanical bull somewhere hiding on the premises.

15 Queen Anne Court Commercial Linkbait

March 21  |  Viral Marketing  |   Ryan Clark

A slight warning that this commercial is perhaps NSFW, but there isn’t any nudity…just close to it. I’m always keeping an eye on what’s blowing minds in the marketing world, and this commercial blew mine right off. The commercial is for an amazing real estate property(15 Queen Anne Court) in The Sovereign Island (Queensland), and I couldn’t think of a better way to get the word out. The luxury real estate market is a tough battlefield, but if you have the coin and the know-how to drop a bomb like this; then by all means doooooo iiiittt!

Viral marketing is an art, and sometimes that means you have to step on some peoples toes and get down right crazy. There are real estate agents talking about it, whether the form of marketing is too controversial or not for the real estate market. I think the real problem there lies in fact that us North American’s tend to get easily offended. So who’s this commercial really for? Without a doubt the young, rich and famous are going to be drooling over this luxury property. The rest of us will just end up dreaming, wishing and clicking that share with friends button. I’ll be checking back on this video and their website to see how well it performed later, so bookmark this post if you want to find out!
