There has been an influx of reports via Google Webmaster Central just in the past few hours about a Google spider called Dots running amok. Large sites are having major issues with this today and it’s knocking them out of commission it seems. There hasn’t been much of an official word yet, but there is some explanation in this Google Groups post.
