The concept seems great, but it was executed poorly by Go Compare. When you get a large company doing work like this, it's always a crap shoot. They have limited time and resources, and the faster they can shovel the money in and the work out, the better. It doesn't bode well for your site.

I took this approach a few months back and it has reaped huge rewards for me. Instead of link trading, I have written articles for other sites, and they include a link back to my site at the end of the article. These have been highly ranked websites IN MY NICHE, and they still link to my site because the link and article is in the niche, but is abit off topic of their site which they do not have any content yet. It's a win-win for both sites, and just one article put me on the front page from 5 pages in the serp's.

Mass mailing is a big no no! Just doesn't give a professional impression. If you send the mails one by one instead, that could work i think.

This method above is getting really popular with SEO. People say article marketing is dead...this is just another form of it.

I went from one set of keywords to another, and then added another. I am now taking some heat off the site for a couple days, I went from 300 to 3000 in one month with a mix of 5 different keyword strings. I kind of think google will slap me if I don't slow down. What is your advice?

yeah , Go compare emails had started a great debate . I don't think that big companies should email like it . I worked for some big companies but we did it under cover not revealing about companies But yes it generated a lot of publicity for gocompare and some links without giving any content Lolz
