We use nothing but Hootsuite here at Linkbuildr, and them being a local company makes it even sweeter. I love the web version which I use everyday, and the mobile version doesn’t fall too far behind. The software is a god send and the new social analytics features look like a helpful addition to the overall set of resources within this web app. The main attraction to these features is the ability to garner real time happenings during your social media campaigns. There are just over 30 new features that will let you make all sorts of crazy awesome reports, things your boss will love as well as your knowledge of any given campaign.

Google Panda(Farm) Update Help Roundup

The Google Panda/Farm update has been cleaning up the crap, filtering the high quality and still leaving a blender of scraped, low quality content all over the top 10 rankings. While the first bit of time after any big update usually leaves many with headaches, there are solutions and changes in the works. Google has already acknowledged that tons of quality sites caught wrongly f$%^!ed over, but as time ticks on this isn’t going to do for some. We’ve gladly made it through, and any of the “dupe” content we may have doesn’t teeter over the 20% mark, so phew!
I do what I can with my spare time to help people out in Google’s Webmaster Forum, and I’m seeing a ton of big name sites coming up with issues. It usually ends in speculation from too many ill-informed consultants and SEO weekend warriors, so I feel for the people seeking true help. This has inspired me to do what we can and round up all the good info on the Panda update for people seeking questions, help and answers. I would be more than happy to have you folks drop some links I missed in the comments that are helpful because I won’t catch them all.
First up we’ll start with the most useful and resourceful posts that came from the greatest minds in the SEO field. So many great people did a lot of research, great writing and the outcome was more than amazing. It also saved us from having to jump on the bandwagon and try and make sense of it all…for some this update sure didn’t make a whole lot of sense!

I was trying to find some neat new social media resources for real estate marketing month and saw that Lofts.com has launched into the spotlight as of this month. This was a website service for the Boston area but it looks like they’re opening up the site to agents and buyers all over the world. I personally really like what they’ve done and now that you can list your loft with them, it seems to be a smart niche marketing tool to take advantage of. They have listing services which is something I’d take a look into if you’re selling a loft.

The cat is out of the bag and a major algorithm change has been launched within Google. Matt Cutts has come out and stated the news on his blog which you can read here. This is definitely a post everyone should be reading but to do a slight bit of dupe content myself, this is what their focusing on:
This was a pretty targeted launch: slightly over 2% of queries change in some way, but less than half a percent of search results change enough that someone might really notice. The net effect is that searchers are more likely to see the sites that wrote the original content rather than a site that scraped or copied the original site’s content.
While I’ve been ranting about our problem with content scrapers, but this week we’ve been seeing a huge improvement of the scrapers not even registering. I’m hoping this is the start of a cleaner search result, and a rise in revenue for everyone, including Google.
There is a huge amount of web chatter going on in the forums, on the blogs and Twitter so I’ll do my best to round it up here for your reading pleasure. Google and Matt are not always crystal clear on the entirety of a algorithm change, so the best course of action is to of course read up and view results for yourself. Take note of any problems your site is having and keep detailed notes of a more positive, or negative SERP result experience. Pubcon in Austin 2011: Who’s Coming?

I just wanted to get the word out we’re sending Ryan from our team to go soak in the experience at one of the top search and social conferences currently running. He was quite pleased to hear that this one was in Austin TX, and won’t be in Vegas where he was last…apparently he had a hard time focusing there! The Austin Pubcon looks to be an amazing time with a huge line up of amazing speakers. He’ll be there to network and share expertise, for free, so make sure to look out for the goofy Canadian amongst the crowd.
We’ll make sure to keep you updated of his where abouts through Twitter, Youtube and Foursquare where he’ll be checking in constantly like he always does. Follow us on Foursquare to keep tabs, or just to see how much he eats out. You’d be surprised how often that guy can manage to not cook a meal.
