I’m happy to announce the launch of Link Voodoo Beta for the new year and it is the beginning of the project I have been working on with two amazing people. My good friends who also programmed, designed and run InfoBarrel have teamed up with me to put together what will be the most complete link building tool on the them Internets. We need your input on what you like and don’t like about this first installment so please leave comments, bad or good.

So currently what is in operation is the very Beta version which calculates a pages TrustRank score based on a set of factors we determined. We want to help people determine if they’re getting links from quality websites, or pages and make your link building efforts more worth the while. This tool, plus a few tweaks, will always remain free and the next installments of “Pro Tools” we will bring on board will be available at a very reasonable cost. I cannot say much about what that will entail, but I assure you it will make your mouth water!
So as I stated in the first paragraph, we need your user input on what sucks and what doesn’t. Please bare with us as we fix things and break things. If anyone bloggers want to write about the tool I would be more than happy to bring you on board for sneak peeks and what’s coming next as well bring you on board as Pro Tools testers.
Currently you can see all the factors that determine your TrustRank, and within a week we will have full backlink and anchor test reporting so you can check your links, or your competitors. We will also have a keyword ranking/position tracker in place soon enough to make it more complete. So I hope you all find this useful and I’m looking forward in hearing some feedback!

I recently came across Worio which is a relatively new search engine that brings some new twists to the search engine game, and I’m pretty impressed. The layout and feel of the site flows nicely with a clean web 2.0 feel in both the design and social interaction. Worio is set out to not only provide the way we search as we know it, but also influence how you find things through friends, new blogs and other social media aspects. This search engine was developed in my homeland at the University of British Columbia and they do a decent job of not getting the word out locally. Worio learns about your interests and dislikes through your searching habits, so the more you search and tag, the better you’ll get the content you’re looking for.
What does “Worio” mean? Worio is an acronym based on “Web of Research”, the name we gave to the group of researchers that came together at UBC to develop this project.
You can also search the oldies but goodies like Google, Yahoo and MSN through Worio to further the learning experience. Now the links within the search results are dofollow, as well as popular links within the right sidebar but I’m not sure if you’ll see much link love. Currently the search engine only has a couple hundred pages indexed so I wouldn’t expect to see a lot of traffic or links just yet. As a SEO consultant I love seeing how other people are trying to come up with ways to bring my search results, and I hope Worio succeeds in the long run.

Earnersclub is a great hub for the SEO/SEM/Webmaster community and provides a new source for traffic to your blog. The links are not dofollow, but I’m after the traffic that’s involved here and I’ve been using the site more and more lately. Not only does this dive into the realm of what Sphinn covers, but it also goes into the money making niche deeply with a vast section of great links to information I don’t normally come across….and it’s all about making money. They also have a vast array of buttons for your website, browser plugins to easily submit content on the go and of course a handy WordPress plugin to let your readers vote up your stories. I’m kind of in a toss up to switch it over from Sphinn, but for now I’ll try and get this added to my socialize this plugin for WordPress. I highly recommend all your folks out there in these niches to join up and start voting and submitting your good content.

JigJak is a cool social bookmarking site that I’ve discovered lately, so it may be new to some and old news to others! I’ve been using it to bookmark some quality articles on here and I’m happy to say that JigJak is dofollow and I’m enjoying the link juice to my content. The community on the site seems very active and serious about keeping the quality in order on the site. JigJak also has around 6200+ pages indexed in Google so that’s a good sign they’re doing decent and aoff to a good start. I really liked the member community section which shows a visual map of the world and where most of the active users are, it ads a nice little touch. They also offer blogs to members so you can write your own content on the network and get it promoted within the site. This website is absolutely free and you can go ahead and sign up, but please do not spam.

Here’s another hilarious cartoon from Kevin & the Googlebots with a hilarious spin on paid links. I wish we could just pay Tyler to work on these cartoons everyday because they’re always hilarious. Click on the image to get it a little bigger, but for all his fine work go to his website and leave him a comment.
